The 30-day stay issued by the 11^th Circuit Court of Appeals expires on May 15th.

So now is the time for us to organize to save the life of Troy Anthony Davis. We're asking everybody to come out strong on May 19th – a day marked in human rights calendars across the world as the Global Day of Action for Troy Davis.

Whether you're holding a "Text TROY to 90999" sign on a busy street or organizing your local Amnesty chapter to hold a public demonstration or vigil, we need everybody to contribute their time on May 19th to make sure that the state of Georgia does not kill a man who may well be innocent. We know that time is short for organizing public events, but an execution date could be set as early as late May, so it is essential that action be taken soon. It's also really important that we get an accurate count of how many events and activities are taking place on May 19th, so we can share this information with officials in Georgia. Our emails and phone calls have gone a long way in buying Troy some much-needed time, but now we've got to take our action to the streets.

We appreciate the tens of thousands of you who have stood in Troy's corner while heart-stopping scenes have unfolded. On three separate occasions, Troy has been scheduled for execution. And on three separate occasions, his life was saved within a short period of time, even minutes, of his scheduled execution date.

Each time, those last minute stays came after people like you turned out by the thousands to rally in his defense. It was no coincidence. Troy's sister and long-time Amnesty activist, Martina Correia, has acknowledged Amnesty's powerful role in saving her brother's life each of those times.

Now here we are again with the clock winding down. While we can see little opportunity for legal recourse or second chances, we know that your advocacy has a strong record of making amazing things happen.

When we first introduced you to Troy Davis in early 2007, few people outside of Georgia knew about the injustice taking place. In the past two years, countless people have come to see Troy's case as a prime example of why the death penalty must be abolished – the risk of executing someone for a crime they did not commit is just too high.

We are serious when we say that we need everyone to support Troy Davis on May 19th by organizing their own event or awareness-raising activity.

I am writing to urge you to exercise leadership, as ((( insert person's title here ex: governor, senator, etc.))), to see to it that the death sentence of Troy Davis is commuted, in order to ensure that Georgia does not put to death a man who may well be innocent. I believe you have the power to do so, and I believe you must use it in this case.

In this extraordinary case, where a man with a strong claim to innocence may well be executed without a court ever holding a hearing on his claims, I urge you to act in the interests of justice and support clemency for Troy Davis. An execution in this case, without a proper hearing on significant evidence of innocence, would severely compromise the integrity of Georgia’s justice system.

As you may know, Mr. Davis was convicted of the 1989 murder of police officer Mark MacPhail, a conviction based solely on witness testimony, and seven of the nine non-police witnesses have recanted or contradicted their trial testimony. The courts, citing procedural rules and time limits, have so far refused to hold an evidentiary hearing to examine these witnesses. Executive clemency exists, and executive action is required, to preserve justice when the protections afforded by our appeals process fail to do so.

The New Assault on Assata Shakur:
Will Obama Sell Assata Out?

Most Americans are not familiar with Assata Shakur. After all, she's not exactly the type of black super hero that they parade around during Black History Month. This is the type of ignorance that some legislators in New Jersey hope will allow them to extradite Shakur back to the US under the cover of our darkness.

Assata Shakur (JoAnne Chesimard) was involved in a 1973 shootout on the New Jersey Turnpike that resulted in the deaths of fellow Black Liberation Army member Zayd Shakur and NJ State Trooper Werner Foerster. Shakur was sentenced to life in prison in 1977 but was broken out of prison by her comrades in 1979. She has been living under political asylum in Cuba since 1984.

She still remains on the FBI's Most Wanted List with a million dollar reward for any snitch willing to give her up to the FEDS.

However, with President Barack Obama seeking to open political channels with Cuba and ease US restrictions, politicians in New Jersey have been turning up the heat on the Prez to make the Cuban government give up Shakur if they want to be in Uncle Sam's good graces.

While the current headlines of "NJ to Press for Return of Cop Killer" would lead you to believe that Shakur is some heartless street thugstress that went around shootin' up police stations just for kicks, the truth about the government repression which groups like the Black Panther Party and its underground military arm, the Black Liberation Army, suffered has never really been told.

We cannot allow the media to even begin discussing Assata Shakur without putting her struggle in the context of COINTELPRO. The Counter Intelligence Program was an effort by J. Edgar Hoover's Federal Bureau of Investigation and its associated agencies to destroy groups that dared stand against US oppression.

It was under COINTELPRO that black leadership suffered under "dirty tricks" that ranged from political assassinations (Fred Hampton) to smear campaigns which are too many to even begin to name here. Even the good Rev. Martin Luther King JR was not immune to Hoover's "dirty tricks."

Could you really expect Assata Shakur to get a fair trial under such repressive policies?

According to the late Civil Rights attorney, William Kunstler in his book "My Life as a Radical Lawyer," a law enforcement agent told him that during Shakur's trial "a member of the New Jersey State Assembly had gone to the hotel where the jury was sequestered and talked to them about the necessity to convict." In the book Kunstler hints that even he underestimated the lengths that NJ law enforcement would go to get a conviction of Shakur.

Today, those same types of people are at it again. On April 17th, NJ Senator Sean King sent a letter to President Obama asking him to "delay normalizing relations with Cuba unless they agree to extradite convicted cop killer JoAnne Chesimard."

If we do not raise this issue, loudly, Assata Shakur will be back in a US prison or worst before she knows what hit her.

CIA 'amnesty' dismays campaigners

Human and civil rights groups in the US have expressed dismay at news that CIA agents will not face prosecution over interrogation tactics in the Bush era.

Campaigners welcomed the White House's decision to publish details of harsh interrogation techniques now banned by President Barack Obama.

But rights groups said the decision not to prosecute agents was a failure to uphold the law of the land.

Others defended the techniques, saying the interrogations boosted US security.

The former head of the CIA, Michael Hayden, who ran the agency under President George W Bush, said the White House move would undermine intelligence work and dissuade foreign agencies from sharing information with the CIA.

"If you want an intelligence service to work for you, they always work on the edge. That's just where they work," he told the Associated Press.

Mr Obama banned the use of interrogation techniques such as sleep deprivation and simulated drowning - known as waterboarding - during his first week in office.

CIA agents are now required to use only those methods outlined in the US Army Field Manual.

The justice department has now released four memos detailing techniques the CIA was able to use under the Bush administration.

In publishing the memos, the Obama administration is clearly hoping to draw a line under the whole episode, says BBC defence correspondent Rob Watson.

The administration did not say it would protect CIA agents who acted outside the boundaries laid out in the memos, or those non-CIA staff involved in approving the interrogation limits.

That leaves open the possibility that those who crafted the legal opinions authorising the techniques, one of whom is now a federal judge, could yet face legal action.

But politically and legally further moves will not be easy, our correspondent adds: the Department of Justice has already in effect ruled out any criminal prosecutions and is even offering legal assistance to any CIA official subject to any international inquiries or congressional investigation.

Politically the Obama administration has been sending strong signals that a functioning CIA is vital to national security and that nothing should be done to weaken confidence or morale at the agency, our correspondent says.

Announcing the release of the four memos, Attorney General Eric Holder said the US was being "consistent with our commitment to the rule of law".

"The president has halted the use of the interrogation techniques described in these opinions, and this administration has made clear from day one that it will not condone torture," he said.

However, civil and human rights campaigners remain uneasy and there are calls for an independent inquiry into the issue, one which could offer immunity from prosecution in return for testimony.

The release of the memos stems from a request by civil rights group the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU).

Amnesty International said the Department of Justice appeared to be offering a "get-out-of-jail-free card" to individuals who were involved in acts of torture.

"Bottom line here is you've had crimes committed," Amnesty International analyst Tom Parker told the BBC.

"These are criminal acts. Torture is illegal under American law, it's illegal under international law. America has an international obligation to prosecute the individuals who carry out these kind of acts."

One of the four secret memos released on Thursday contains legal authorisation for a list of specific harsh interrogation techniques, including pushing detainees against a wall, facial slaps, cramped confinement, stress positions and sleep deprivation.

The memo also authorises the use of "waterboarding", or simulated drowning, and the placing of a detainee into a confined space with an insect - one technique that was not eventually used.

However, most methods were regularly used on "high value" detainees suspected of belonging to the upper echelons of al-Qaeda's command structure.

Jed Babbin, a former Pentagon official during President Bush's first term, told the BBC that the decision to use harsh methods was justifiable.

"I'm not at all convinced that what we got from them was not valuable intelligence in some circumstances," he said, adding that "retribution" against Bush-era officials would not be productive.

"The job of the American justice system is not to please human rights groups, it is to administer the American law as it exists."

Fujimori's Daughter tries to clear Father's Name

A day after a court imposed a 25-year sentence on former President Alberto Fujimori in death squad killings, his daughter predicted Wednesday that the ruling would backfire as she launched a "national crusade" to clear his name.

"I think this very harsh verdict will be a boomerang," said Rep. Keiko Fujimori, a presidential hopeful in 2001 elections. "If they thought they would defeat Fujimorism with this, they're all wrong."

Keiko also said there was no truth to rumors she is discussing a possible pardon with President Alan Garcia, who has been silent on the issue.

Tuesday's conviction and sentencing of her 70-year-old father for 1990s death squad killings and forced disappearances have thrust Keiko into the spotlight.

Immediately after the verdict, she called it "vengeful" and predicted public outrage would propel her to Peru's presidency. If elected, she has said, she would pardon her father.

Keiko, who became Peru's first lady at age 19 after her parents divorced, won the most votes of any candidate in 2006 congressional elections.

She told reporters Wednesday that she plans "a great crusade to clear the name of Alberto Fujimori."

"We want to go to the most remote villages, above all those that suffered the scourge of terrorism and let it be known how unjust this verdict is."

A three-judge Supreme Court panel found Alberto Fujimori guilty of 25 murders in two operations by a military hit squad it said was created to fight the terror of the Shining Path insurgency with state-organized terror. There was no question, the court found, that Fujimori authorized the hit squad's creation.

Keiko said she has collected the signatures of 700,000 people who back her father and has set a goal of obtaining 1 million.

The oldest of Fujimori's four children, she is among three front-runners in recent polls for president. Her popularity owes in part to her father's legacy as the man who rescued Peru from the brink of economic and political collapse after winning office in 1990 as a political unknown.

But many analysts say her appeal is limited.

Her Fuerza 2011 party has just 13 seats in the 120-member congress and Nelson Manrique, a Catholic University professor, believes she has been weakened by the strong judicial condemnation of her father.

"It's one thing to capitalize on the romantic image of the daughter defending a presumably innocent father, another defending a sentenced criminal," he said.

Experts in international human rights law say the verdict is precedent-setting and could have profound implications for other former or current heads of state who may have committed similar crimes.

It is the first in which a democratically elected former president has been tried in his home country for rights violations.

In addition to the death squad killings, Fujimori was convicted of two kidnappings.

One of the victims, investigative journalist Gustavo Gorriti, was abducted for a day in April 1992 for criticizing Fujimori's shuttering of the opposition-led Congress and courts.

He told The Associated Press that there was "a certain fallacy" to Keiko's "supposed great popularity," noting that two-thirds of Peruvians had deemed her father guilty in pre-verdict polls.

Keiko has no more than 24 percent support, he estimated, and her candidacy is "essentially single-issue: Fujimori's freedom."

Fujimori's 10-year presidency ended in disgrace in 2000 when videotapes showed his now-imprisoned intelligence chief, Vladimiro Montesinos, bribing lawmakers and businessmen.

Fujimori fled to Japan, then attempted a return five years later via Chile, believing he could make a political comeback. Instead, he was extradited.

Hollywood actor Kal Penn has taken a job in the administration of President Barack Obama.

The star, who appeared in US TV drama House and comic movie Harold and Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay, will work in the Office of Public Liaison.

Penn's role will be to connect the President with Asian, Pacific Island communities and arts groups.

The actor recently made a dramatic exit from medical drama House in the US. The show also stars Hugh Laurie.

Speaking to US journalists, the 31-year-old said he felt his calling was in public service.

"It's not like I'm retiring from acting. I certainly intend to come back at some point," he added.

Penn supported Obama throughout his election campaign and spoke at the President's inauguration concert at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington DC.

A starting date for his new job is yet to be fixed.

The actor is best known on the big screen for his role as a marijuana-smoking student in the Harold and Kumar movies.

The monkey is curious like George. Curiosity is a chain-drug, a question that leads to a search for answers. Who, What, When, Where, Why, and How is what we come to know as curiosity. If you ask, you are curious and want more. As children we are quite annoying when asking "too many" questions. It is the human desire for knowledge and adaptation that makes us ask these questions. Of course we grow out of that and become adapted to not be annoying. Society has become conformed to that belief that the child asking "too many" questions is annoying. For example; a television comedy. A young girl keeps asking her father why after every response, the more she asks the more the father is annoyed and the funnier it seems to be. I laugh too so don't feel bad but, that scene is what gets to society.

We are no longer monkeys, right? We certainly have evolved intellectually. FYI, I feel sorry for you if you said no. The monkey can not get passed his curiosity throughout age. Studies have shown that what sets us apart from monkeys is not the ability to learn but, the desire to teach in order to start the process once more. Mentally, a monkey will always be equivalent to a human adolescent. As our minds evolved we became addicted to knowledge and search for knowledge. Today science and technology has brought together so much knowledge that we don't have to ask questions except where to find those sources of knowledge. This is where I would make my corny joke.

"Whose the one with the answers? Who man? Who? Oh yes. The Human, that's you man." FYI, I feel even more sorry for you if you laughed at that.

Even as the humans we are today, our minds evolve through age. The more knowledge we collect, the more intelligent we become. Unfortunately, not just knowledge through books cuts it these days. Streets smarts teaches you something more than a book can, it teaches you about the times. Those combined smarts creates the highest level of intelligence known to man, that is the Wise Man. What differentiates streets smarts from book smarts is the fact that time is always changing and a book shall always provide the same knowledge. Since time changes, so does the knowledge brought by time.

What is a Wise Man? A Wise Man is someone who dares to ask "Why." Those "Why's" does not necessarily man him a wise man, it makes him a "Whys Man." Difference is that the Wise Man has found out Why and the Whys Man is still searching. While a nerd can recite the periodic table of elements, he can not tell you WHY the world is so fucked up. The nerd knows only what the books can provide.

This Millennium has not been good to humanity as of late. The Wise has become an endangered species. No one cares to ask why anymore. If they do they let it pass and forget about it. Humanities next step in evolution of the wise is not a positive one. We would be making better strides if we devolved. I provided the image above so you can see what are become, call it a prophetic image of human evolution. We are fat, slow, lazy, and unwise thanks to the American way of life. Don't turn into a fucking pig, dare to ask why and find the answers. Be human and teach others what you have learned. Become a Wise Man, for the world needs it.

America’s War riches was threatened after World War 2 when the U.S.S.R became a Superpower and was able to manufacture their own weapons to build up their economy. No longer could America be the leading supplier of weaponry to the world like they were between its’ Civil War and World War 1 when they were selling patents, ammunition, and weapons to nations across the world mainly through Remington.

After watching this, stop to think WHY it is so important for the media to show the masses a one-sided view of the issue on War and has been successful in convincing this nation and the world into going to War. There is too much at stake for Corporations to not be at War, think about it.

Phoenix Cops Raid Blogger Critical of Police

ANOTHER CASE OF THIS POLICE STATE WE ARE HEADING IN. KEEP BLOGGIN'. KEEP EXPOSING THESE CROOKED ASS COPS. FUCK THE POLICE!!!

In what should send a frightening chill down the spine of every blogger, writer, journalist and First Amendment advocate in the United States, Phoenix police raided the home of a blogger who has been highly critical of the department.

Jeff Pataky, who runs Bad Phoenix Cops, said the officers confiscated three computers, routers, modems, hard drives, memory cards and everything necessary to continue blogging.

The 41-year-old software engineer said they also confiscated numerous personal files and documents relating to a pending lawsuit he has against the department alleging harassment - which he says makes it obvious the raid was an act of retaliation.

Maricopa County Judge Gary Donahoe signed the search warrant that allowed at least ten cops to raid his home in North Phoenix on March 12 while handcuffing his female roommate for three hours as they tore the place apart.

Pataky, who was out of town on a business trip during the raid, also believes police were retaliating against him for the content of his blog, much of it which comes from inside sources within the department.

“They broke into my safe and took the backups of my backups,” he said in a phone interview with Photography is Not a Crime on Wednesday.

“I can’t even file my taxes because all my business plans are gone. They took everything.”

The search warrant lists “petty theft” and “computer tampering with the intent to harass” as probable causes. He has yet to see an actual affidavit that lists in detail the probable cause and is skeptical that one even exists.

“They say everything has been sealed,” he said.

The conflict between Pataky and the Phoenix Police Department began two years ago during “a nasty divorce” after moving out of the house he had shared with his wife. His said she was not taking the divorce too well and began filing false allegations against him accusing him of stalking and harassing her.

Many of the reports she filed accused him of doing things when he was out of town, he said.

So he began filing complaints with everybody from Phoenix Mayor Phil Gordon down to Phoenix Police Chief Jack Harris to no avail. He was eventually indicted for harassing his ex-wife.

A month before the trial, he and a few friends launched the website as a rant against the police department. When he went to trial in May 2008, his charges were immediately dismissed because of lack of evidence, he said.

“We were going to shut down the website after that but then all of a sudden all these good cops started hitting the site and sending us tips,” he said.

He said they would also deliver all kinds of internal documents from within the department exposing everything from a cop with multiple DUIs to another cop whose son was a child molester and was trying to get on the force (and was eventually arrested).

“We have about 50 to 100 retired and active cops who provide us information,” he said.

Police apparently believe one of the tipsters is an officer named David Barnes, who fell out of favor with the department in 2007 when he was a detective and went public with claims of mismanaged evidence at the city crime lab.

Police also raided Barnes’ home and according to Pataky’s inside sources, plan to raid the homes of more cops.

Police have been extremely vague about the nature of the raids, according to the arizona republic.

Police officials said Wednesday that a Phoenix detective prompted the investigation after complaining about harassment, though they declined further comment…

Phoenix Assistant Chief Andy Anderson said the harassment case is unique because of the connection to an unaccredited grassroots Web site. He said the blog is one part of the case, though he did not provide specifics of the ongoing investigation.

“This isn’t about the blog,” Anderson said. “That’s just where the investigation led.”

The allegation of “petty theft” against Pataky stem from photos he posted on his blog of police name plates that appear to have been taken from within the department. He said he actually made the plates himself.

The allegation of “computer tampering with the intent to harass” obviously has to do with his no holds barred criticism of the department.

Pataky, who has since purchased a new laptop, is taking the raid in stride and has added it to the allegations in his pending lawsuit.

And he has not let it stop him from blogging.

“They thought they were going to scare us into a corner but they just made us stronger.”

Are We Eating Ourselves to Death?

The answer to this is all round us, look into the eyes of your grandmother, are they discolored? Or, your parents, are they well? And how about you do have mucus, are you tired throughout the day, do you have anger spurts? Are your relationships healthy, are you successful at work? Did you know our attitudes and emotions are directly connected and are a complete result of our diet?

Maybe we cant yet see signs of major sickness, but, our condition is clear. We are eating ourselves into an unconscious grave and are addicted to foods.

Everyone knows someone who died or is dieing of what we call disease. There is only one dis ease, its mucus. As long as we are eating hybrid foods, which are, foods that are man- made and have never lived, we are lowering or frequency and vibration. We are sources of light and energy, it's time we return to mother nature and living foods. Dis ease can not exist if we have a high frequency or alkaline body.

Sugar, high fructose corn syrup, sodium benzoite, anything with yeast or starch... These all go into our body and put strain on our amune system. A lot of the things we read on labels are actually effecting our genes and some even go into our DNA make up. Sound crazy? Just try to stop eating sugar for three days. You will most sertainly have symtoms of withdrawl, and, may even wake-up shaking in your sleep.

We are not in jail, therefore, we can still choose to eat foods at our frequency and foods of intelegence. As electrical vibrations and true forces of nature, this information should not seem far fetched. Human beings have common sence as a gift, lets not take it for granite. Think. Ask. Investigate. Communicate. Don't Be a Part of a Plan. . . Plan for Yourself.
